On April 14, 1993, Don Calhoun entered Chicago lore with the "Million Dollar Shot." 30 years later, his son is building on his dreams — and the legacy of his late brother.
This story should definitely be betrayed on film. The backstory of his life and tragedy gave him a sense of purpose larger than the million dollar shot. I appreciate the tremendous writing telling this historic moment in sports history.
Thank you for your kind words Damien! I agree: Don's story with Clarence is beautiful and should be on film. I feel like it would be spectacular as a 30-minute documentary if you could get the right footage.
I was wondering what happened to you all. I worked with your Dad , Clarence. Him and I got along so well. I had to screen all the calls he got the next day. He came in the store and news, local and national were there, so much fun. Oh I have some funny stories that day. Would love to get in touch with him and your mom. So happy and so proud of who you became. Tell Don his favorite receptionist Connie says hi!!’
Awesome story. Very inspirational and well written.
Thank you so much. It meant a lot to me.
Beautifully written sir!
Man, I appreciate that! Put my soul into this.
It definitely shows.
As you now know, Don is genuine, humble and kind - just as I’d told you. Thank you for the current project - I am so excited! Epic, it will be epic.
You were absolutely right!

Hey Connie! This Clarence’s mom! We definitely miss you! Can you believe it’s been 30 years! Thank you for the wonderful written story!
Wow! Thank you for reading!
I passed your comment to Don and he responded: “ I remember Connie. Such a sweet lady.”
Wow! Thank you Connie. I would love to hear any of your stories about that day. If you add them in the comments I’ll add them all to the post.
In the meantime, I’ll pass this along to Clarence and Don. Be well and thanks for sharing!
Absolutely loved reading the story and I had the honor of being a friend of Don back at BHS.

Appreciate you brother! Real talk: I'm glad it was recognized.
